Two Enercon turbines generating at textile factory in Istanbul
1 January 2004
Two Enercon 600 kW turbines are now generating electricity at the site of a textile factory owned by Sunjut, a firm based in Istanbul, reports the German supplier of the units. The 46 metre steel towers for the turbines were made by Cimtas, a Turkish construction company that has supplied towers for other Enercon machines in Turkey and Italy. The blades were produced in Enercon's new facility at Ismir, operated jointly with Turkish electrical engineering firm Demirer Holding. The blade factory currently has an output of four blades a week. At the hub height of the turbines, wind speeds average 6 m/s, says Enercon.
