Suomen Hyoetytuuli Oy, one of Finland's more active and newly emerging renewable energy development companies, has connected an 11.5 MW wind plant of five Bonus 2.3 MW turbines to the national grid. The wind station, the largest so far in Finland and commissioned in August, is sited on the coastline near Raahe in north-west Finland. Suomen Hyoetytuuli plans to use Raahe as a "reference-project" to raise money for similar sized projects in northern Finland. Wind turbines operated by Suomen Hyoetytuuli account for more than one-third of Finland's total wind power generation. The Raahe project obtained a government capital grant for covering 35% of its EUR 13 million total cost.
