Generacion de Energia Renovable (GERSA), recently arrived on the wind power development scene, is planning to open up a new region for wind power development: Burgos, just north of Madrid. According to the company's Eduardo Gomez Acebo, GERSA plans to invest some ESP 7200 million in four wind farms with a total installed capacity of 36.5 MW generated by 73, 500 kW units. These will be imported, says Gomez Acebo. Power will be sold to Iberdrola. Burgos province has been under scrutiny for some time and 13 applications for wind farm siting permits have been submitted by a series of companies. Experts estimate the area has a ceiling of 200 MW.
