Toyota invests in 22 MW Vestas project

Toyota Trading Corporation and Electric Power Development Company (EPDC) are investing JPY 4.5 billion ($42.4 million) in the development of a 22 MW wind farm in Aichi Prefecture. Due to begin operating in March 2005, it will use 11 Vestas 2 MW turbines. The power will be supplied to Chubu Electric Power Company. EDPC has a 66% stake and Toyota Tsusho (a Toyota Trading subsidiary) a 34% share in the firm that has been created to operate the facility. The two companies already co-own a wind farm in the Tokyo area, which began operating in March 2003.
