San Gorgonio repowering

-

Motorists driving near Palm Springs will soon see seven new Micon 600 kW turbines instead of 85 old Enertechs. Decommissioning started in October on SeaWest's Altech II wind farm in San Gorgonio. The Micons, mostly machined and assembled in Minnesota but of European components, will be installed in February, says Leif Andersen, president of Micon Wind Turbines (US) Inc. The project, the largest repowering in the San Gorgonio Pass so far, is highly visible from Indian Avenue. Only one Micon 600 kW is installed so far in the United States, in Iowa.
