Another victim to UK planning system
The latest wind farm proposal to fall victim to the UK planning system is Trigen's 15 MW project at Largie on Kintyre. In mid November the Scottish Secretary of State turned it down -- more than five years after Trigen first lodged its planning application. Despite being passed by the local authority, the Scottish Office called for a public inquiry, prompted by concerns from Scottish Natural Heritage about possible effects on the overwintering population of Greenland white-fronted geese.
