Installation of the 99 MW La Muela wind station near Zaragoza in the province of Aragón has begun, reports German wind developer BVT Energie und Umwelttechnik of Munich. Once complete, the plant will comprise 132 NEG Micon 750 kW turbines spread across two sites at La Carracha and Plana de Jaretta. Aided by the Project Development Fund, a German consortium of BVT Holding, ThyssenRheinstahl Technik, HypoVereinsbank and Etaplan, the station took four years to develop. It will be officially handed over to the Project Development Fund in the first quarter of 2003. Investment in La Muela amounts to EUR 106 million. Of the capital input of EUR 26.6 million, BVT Umwelt is supplying a third and has an option to acquire the 2.6% stake held by Project Development Fund. TXU Europe Energy Trading has supplied 40% of the capital, Blue Energy, a subsidiary of Umweltkontor, 26%, and the Aragón municipality's Diputación General, 1.4%.
