Czech Republic

Second study by UK for strategy development

A UK company has started work on a study that will help the Czech Republic to develop a strategy for renewable energy. The six month project by Cornwall based renewable energy consultancy CSM Associates Ltd (CSMA), will look into wind, biomass, solar and geothermal sources. The study will lead to recommendations for changes to the Czech government's policies for renewable energy development. Finally, CSMA will prepare a model scenario for a region within the Czech Republic. The study is being funded jointly by the Czech Ministry of Environment and the UK government's Know How Fund. A second British company, Borderwind, is specifically studying wind potential in the Czech Republic (Windpower Monthly, January 1997).
