Northern States Power (NSP) plans to accept bids sometime later this year for the first of two stages of the remaining 75 MW of its planned 100 MW of wind power plant on Buffalo Ridge. Bids for 25-35 MW will be solicited this year, says an NSP spokeswoman. She says, however, that public utilities commission approval of the bids will determine the exact timing. "We'd like to do it this year. That is our intent," she said. The utility hopes to have the full 100 MW in place by 1998. The first 25 MW, of 33M-VS by Kenetech Corp, were expected to be completed by May 1. The cost of the power will be "under five cents," says the spokeswoman.
