Nordex strikes out as independent developer of three projects in Vendée

Utility Régie d«Électricité de Vendée has contracted for wind turbines for three projects in the Vendée department of western France with Germany's Nordex. If permitted, the three 12 MW plant will be developed by Nordex France in association with its local partner, Alternative Technologique (Al Tech); the two companies previously worked together on the 19.5 MW Bouin wind farm, one of the largest in France.

Announcing the contracts, Nordex says it will apply for building permits before the end of the year. Nordex has built 91 MW of wind plant in France to date, out of a total of roughly 240 MW. President of Nordex France, Gerd von Bassewitz, says that in addition to its traditional role building wind farms on behalf of clients, the company is well on the way to developing its own wind plant as an independent developer.
