Work on a 30 MW farm at Tarifa in southern Spain, entirely financed by California wind company, Kenetech, is forging ahead, although none of the American firm's 33M-VS turbines planned for the area have yet been erected. Bulldozers have cut some 20 kilometres of access tracks into the hillside where the wind farm of 90 turbines is to be situated. Kenetech has financed the relocation of a rubbish dump which attracted raptors dangerously close to the area. The company has also presented the local town hall with a disposal truck to transport the rubbish to the new tip. According to the director of the regional environmental agency, the AMA, the turbines are expected to go up later this autumn.
