Customers keen in Colorado
1 May 1999
The Ponnequin wind farm in Colorado's Weld County near the Wyoming border, made up of 21 NEG Micon turbines, is now generating 11.25 MW of power to homes and businesses of customers who have chosen green power. So far, 10,000 customers of the Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCo), including 100 businesses, have signed up for the utility's Windsource program and approximately 8000 are now receiving wind energy. As more turbines begin generating electricity, more customers who have signed up will pay the premium price as wind power is fed into the grid. Another 4.5 MW of installed capacity is to be installed at the Ponnequin site this spring.
