Portugal's leading wind plant operator, Enersis, has picked Vestas to supply and install 32 of its 3 MW turbines for the 96 MW Pampillosa da Serra project in the centre of the country. The order follows a similar contract from Enersis for 26 of the same machine for the 78 MW Dos Candeeiros project. Ground construction and infrastructure work for Pampillosa has been underway since June, says Afonso Proença of Enersis, The news is a blow to Danish manufacturer Bonus. The UK's Renewable Energy Systems (RES) originally developed the project, before selling the rights to Enersis and pulling out of Portugal completely. It had planned to use Bonus 1.3 MW turbines.
