Labour's energy spokesman John Battle has toured three wind farms in south west England. The visit was arranged by the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA). The shadow minister flew over Carland Cross and Cold Northcott wind farms and visited Delabole by car. "In the year leading up to an election it is very important to ensure that all sides are as informed as possible," says the BWEA's Hugh Babington Smith. "Our understanding is that after visiting a wind farm people's perception of wind energy is much improved." Battle claimed to be genuinely interested in the wind industry. Labour is supportive of renewables and favours some form of continuation of the NFFO -- the present system of renewables support, he said.
