Vestas expands its German blade manufacturing plant

Vestas has invested over EUR 20 million in its German blade manufacturing works in Lauchhammer, Germany, confirms Knud Andersen, chief production officer at the Danish company. The factory is taking on 45 new workers to bring the total to more than 400 to handle expanding business. Production is being switched from blades for the Vestas 2 MW unit to blades for 3 MW machines. The factory's production capacity will be raised to about 1200 blades a year in 2005, from around 900 this year.
