From railway bearings to wind industry supply

Chengdu Tianma Railway Bearing has begun operation of its CNY 550 million ($80.7 million) factory to produce precision bearings for wind turbine yaw and pitch drives in the Qingbaijiang district of Chengdu in Sichuan Province. Annual capacity is forecast at 12,000 units. Next year, the company hopes to expand annual capacity to 20,000 units, giving the company a more than 60% share of the Chinese wind turbine market share. Additional investment is planned. The firm first began making bearings for wind turbines in 2007 and has become a leading supplier to major turbine manufacturers Goldwind and Dongfang Steam Turbine Works.
