The province of Friesland is not only the home of the world champion of ice skating, Rintje Ritzma, but also produces more kilowatt hours from the wind than any other region in the Netherlands. The data base run by Wind Service Holland reveals that Friesland produced 56,500 MWh of wind power last year, ahead of the new province of Flevoland, with a production of 40,800 MWh. Although Friesland boasts the highest wind output, installed capacity in the province is less than in Flevoland and Zuid-Holland (see table).
