Seven 200 kW turbines built by the French manufacturer Vergnet have been installed at Plan du Pal wind farm at Portel des Corbières in Aude department, southwest France. They stand alongside three Nordex 600 kW machines already on the site. Vergnet specialises in small turbines suited to isolated or difficult sites, particularly France's overseas islands where they are connected to local diesel driven grids. Like all Vergnet turbines, those installed at Plan du Pal have lightweight towers supplied in sections for easy shipping which can be quickly assembled by a small team. Plan du Pal was one of the first projects to be selected under the now obsolete EOLE 2005 wind power support program.
