An environmental group has told wind farm developers not to ride roughshod over the country. Lilli Matson from the Council for the Protection of Rural England fired the warning after announcement of the latest NFFO contracts for renewables. "In the past, insensitive renewables developments -- such as some wind projects -- have threatened to damage the countryside and roused intense public opposition. This experience presents a challenge to all renewable developers to propose schemes which avoid environmental problems and so achieve long-term public support," she warns. "To ignore the lessons of the past risks undermining future renewables developments."
