Repower gains foothold with two orders for 2 MW machine
1 June 2005
German turbine manufacturer Repower Systems has gained a firmer foothold in the UK with two more orders for its 2 MW wind turbine. It has won a contract with RWE subsidiary npower renewables to supply 16 machines for its Ffynnon Oer project in south Wales. Installation and commissioning is expected to begin towards the end of the year. In the Fens in the east of England, Repower secured a EUR 32 million contract to supply EDF Energy Nouvelles with 22 turbines for three projects: Deeping St Nicholas and Gedney Marsh -- both in Lincolnshire -- and Glass Moor, in Cambridgeshire. The turbines are expected to be operational by spring 2006. The Fenland wind farms were developed by Wind Prospect, which also developed Repower's first UK project -- a single turbine at March in Cambridgeshire, which began operating earlier this year.
