Tax exempt in Minnesota

Wind equipment has been granted a permanent sales tax exemption in Minnesota. The provision exempts all wind equipment including that used in manufacturing or assembling. Part of the state's omnibus tax bill, it was signed into law by the governor on April 21. In the first year alone the wind industry estimates the exemption will save it $400,000, says John Dunlop of the American Wind Energy Association. The tax bill has turned a temporary provision into a permanent exemption.
