France has a new wind turbine manufacturer, Eole Technologie (ET) of Bourg-Saint-Andeol in the Ardeche. The firm is marketing wind turbines with ratings in the range of 225-600 kW, based on technology developed by established Spanish manufacturer Ecotècnia. ET's agreement with Ecotècnia comes after a year of training its technicians at the Spanish firm's Catalonia headquarters. Installation of the French Ecotècnia turbines will mainly be in the Provence region, near Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. Several projects are very close to realisation, according to ET's Jean-Marc Armitano. The first ET wind farm is likely to be a 7.5 MW plant at Carcassone, one of the best locations for realisation of wind energy in France.
