German project developer WKN Windkraft Nord has made its second project sale to Allianz Specialized Investments, a division of German insurance giant Allianz focussed on renewables. The 16 MW Freyenstein wind plant in the state of Brandenburg follows WKN's sale in December of the 72 MW Francofonte project, to be commissioned on the Italian island of Sicily in April, in December 2005. Freyenstein, made up of Vestas 2 MW machines, was commissioned in the summer. Allianz Specialized Investments says the Freyenstein wind station, its first German project, is a further step in its commitment to long term investment in renewable energy. "We're pleased to continue our successful cooperation with WKN and Vestas in this way," says David Jones, CEO of Allianz Specialized Investments. The Italian project will use Vestas 3 MW machines.
