Energy retailer GreenMountain.com will develop a 10 MW wind farm in Pennsylvania in a partnership with Distributed Generation Systems Inc (Disgen), the Colorado developer headed by Dale Osborn, formerly of Kenetech Windpower, and American National Wind Power Inc, an affiliate of Britain's National Wind Power Ltd. The site of the plant, which will be the largest in the eastern United States, will be finalised by mid-July, construction will start in September, and the plant should be operating by the first quarter of 2000. Green Mountain sells brands containing green electricity to residences in the deregulated electricity markets in Pennsylvania and California. Green Mountain made the announcement at AWEA's Windpower '99 conference, held in Burlington, Vermont, the energy retailer's home town.
