Enernova, a subsidiary of Portugal's utility, has ordered 17, 600 kW wind turbines from Vestas, says the Danish wind turbine manufacturer. Vestas describes the DKK 50 million order as a breakthrough on the Portuguese market. The machines will make up a 10 MW wind plant at Fonte da Mesa, near Oporto, according to Reuters news agency. The wind plant is expected to be operational in November and will generate enough power to meet the average electricity needs of some 5000 households, says Vestas.
