London-based Falck Renewables, the wind development unit of the Italian industrial group Falck, has ordered 15, 2.5 MW wind turbines from German manufacturer Nordex for a 76.5 MW wind farm in the region of Calabria. The turbines are due for delivery in July and are being supplied under a master agreement signed by Nordex and Falck in 2008, under which up to 250 MW in turbines can be called in by 2011. The 37.5 MW in Nordex turbines ordered for the plant in Calabria represent an extension of the first phase of the project, which is now being installed and consists of 26 GE Energy 1.5 MW machines. The San Sostene wind farm should be complete in early 2010.
