Fewer than 20 people attended the wind sessions at the PowerGen Europe 99 event in Frankfurt last month, despite an attempt by the organisers to create a renewables track. "This was a great disappointment," says Anja Prehn of Aerodyn Energiesysteme, who made a presentation on large scale offshore wind use. Presentations from an international range of wind specialists-from Scotland, Spain, Sweden, the UK and France-ran alongside nine other parallel sessions, Prehn adds. Aerodyn was the only wind company present in the exhibit area for renewables-a spot tucked away from the main action. No wind turbine manufacturers made it to the event.
