CO2 outlook grim from International Energy Agency

A report released by the International Energy Agency (IEA), "World Energy Outlook 2000, in November, projects that the world's energy-related carbon dioxide emissions will rise to 60% above 1997 levels by 2020 unless action is taken. IEA predicts a steady 2% yearly growth in world energy use until 2020. Non-hydro renewables will be fastest growing energy source, averaging 2.8% growth per year. Their share of the world power supply will rise to 3% from today's 2% share.
