Destined to become one of the largest wind stations in Germany, the Utgast 11 wind farm, comprising 40 Tacke 600 kW and seven AN Maschinenbau/Bonus 450 kW turbines, is nearing completion. After a two year planning and licensing nightmare (Windpower Monthly, June 1996), wind developer Winkra Project of Hannover announced at the end of February that 14 Tacke machines were installed while foundations for the others had been poured. The AN Maschinenbau turbines were installed back in 1994. The owners of the wind plant are local citizens and the Germania Windpark, a Tacke Windtechnik subsidiary.
