New committee to offer renewables information
1 March 2006
The American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE), a trade organisation working to bring all forms of renewable energy into the American mainstream, recently announced the formation of its new Utility Committee. The committee is chartered around information exchange, networking and education and intends to deal with a wide-ranging set of issues, including standards for the renewables content of electricity portfolios, green pricing programs, best practices and success stories, and renewables case studies. "The committee is there to help support individuals who are designated as the renewable energy managers in their respective organisations," says Jeff Anthony of We Energies, the committee's co-chair. The group's steering committee includes members from Arizona Public Service, Austin Energy, Chelan County Public Utility District, the Electric Power Research Institute, Hawaiian Electric Company, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Southern Company and We Energies. The first meeting is set for April 10 in Las Vegas.
