The expected request for proposals for three to five "distributed" projects developed by utilities is to be issued this month by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and US Department of Energy for 10-50% funding (Windpower Monthly, June 1996). Projects must be at least two turbines rated at 250 kW or more, up to a total of 5 MW, says the announcement. The solicitation, phase III of the Turbine Verification Programme, is a "very significant shift in focus" from previous larger projects, EPRI's Ed de Meo told Windpower '96. Utilities must request the solicitation by July 15 and bids are due September 15.
