INTERNATIONAL NETWORK FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY
Denmark has taken the lead in founding the International Network for Sustainable Energy (INFORSE), described as a worldwide network of independent organisations for achieving long term sustainable energy development and a gradual phasing out of nuclear and fossil fuel consumption. INFORSE is now launching a campaign to "highlight the positive link between sustainable energy and social development." The organisation is headquartered in Copenhagen under the wing of the Forum for Energy and Development, a Danish umbrella organisation founded as a follow-up to the 1992 United Nations conference in Rio. INFORSE has regional co-ordinators in Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, Central Asia, Latin America and North America and publishes a quarterly newsletter -- Sustainable Energy News -- and an annual Sustainable Energy Contact List.
