Ecotècnia turbines picked for 70.5 MW project in Sicily

Italy's Veronagest, a unit of lender Banca Popolare Verona e Novara, has chosen Spanish turbines from Ecotècnia for a 70.5 MW wind project in Sicily. The complex, known as Parco Eolico Ennese, will be one of the country's largest and will use 47 of Ecotècnia's 1.5 MW turbines. The wind farm is expected to be constructed next year in the province of Catania, stretching over land in Ramacca, Raddusa and Castel di Judica. The order is the third and largest Italian contract awarded to Ecotècnia since the opening of its sales office in Rome last year. The roughly EUR 80 million investment is Veronagest's first in Italy's wind business, a sector in which the company says it aims to be one of the strongest players.
