Kenetech Corp says its wind power subsidiary is negotiating to buy a manufacturing facility in Texas, at an undisclosed location, that will be open by the end of the year. The new plant, larger than 150,000 square feet, has a long term potential to expand to 250,000 square feet. Kenetech Windpower president, Ralph Muse, formerly of Houston, Texas, says the plant will help move the backlog of turbines for both domestic and foreign projects and will create 200 full-time jobs. Kenetech's current plant, in Livermore, California, is 150,000 square feet. The company is manufacturing a wind farm in Culberson County, Texas, which will sell power to the Lower Colorado River Authority.
