Portugal's Generg Group is investing EUR 35 million in the construction of a 28 MW wind farm in the district of Castelo Branco in central Portugal as an expansion of the larger Gardunha Wind Park. Construction of the new plant will begin this year, with commissioning planned for 2010. The project will use Enercon turbines from the Eneop 3 factory in Viana do Castelo. Current installed wind capacity in the area is 114 MW, made up of 57 Enercon wind turbines. The Viana do Castelo plant will supply blades for all of Generg's Portuguese projects, including the Mosqueiros and Lagar-Pingulinha/Trancoso wind farms using four and 14 Enercon 2 MW turbines, respectively.
