A wind farm application by a Borders farmer has been given the go-ahead after a public inquiry. Neil Ewart won his appeal against an earlier decision by the planning authority to turn his application down. Local MP Sir Hector Munro had added his voice to protests against the five proposed wind turbines on Carlesgill Hill near Langholm in Scotland. He later condemned the inquiry reporter's decision and pledged to raise the issue of wind turbines in parliament. The only hurdle left for Ewart to overcome before he builds his wind farm is to secure a Scottish Renewables Order (SRO) premium price contract.
