Wind energy company Next Generation says it has applied to build four wind turbines in Gloucestershire in response to public demand. It hopes to extend its wind plant near Nympsfield, Stroud, where a single turbine has operated since 1996. The move comes after the company's "Empower" publicity campaign which resulted in more than 80% of respondents voting yes to the company's aims to build local wind turbines to provide electricity to local homes. "Three of the new turbines already have government contracts, but we are breaking new ground here by building the fourth turbine because local people have demanded it," says Next Generation's Dale Vince.
