In another sign that the green market is heating up, at least in terms of a fight for a limited market share, another green announcement was made in honour of St Patrick's Day. Green Mountain Energy Resources of Vermont said on March 17 that it has already increased the renewable content of its "Wind for the Future" product, sold in California, to 100% renewable energy. About one quarter will be new wind power. Customers who signed up for the original "Wind for the Future," which was 10% new wind, will not automatically be switched to the new product. The company says that "Wind for the Future 2.0" will mean that new wind turbines will have to be installed. The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) has signed on as the first new customer for "Wind for the Future 2.0" . It will power its California office and its electric car charging station.
