Cegelac's 6 MW complete but still small scale
1 August 2003
After four years in the making, Cegelec's 6 MW wind farm at Plougras, in the Côte d'Armor départment of Brittany, is complete. It is equipped with eight J48 750 kW turbines supplied by Jeumont, France's only manufacturer of large scale turbines. The local authorities welcomed the plant not only as a major infrastructure development in this very rural corner of France, but also as an important potential source of income. Jeumont has erected 24 turbines spread over three locations in France to date, but with five more projects in the pipeline for 2004, the company hopes the number will increase to over 80 by the end of next year.
