Lake Benton wind project up

Enron Wind Corp has completed construction of its 107 MW Lake Benton I Wind Power Generation Facility on Buffalo Ridge in Minnesota, near Lake Benton. The price of the power, levelised, over 30 years, is $0.03/kWh, according to Enron. The project, consisting of 143, Z-750 kW turbines made by Zond, is the second phase of a program under which utility Northern States Power (NSP) is to provide 425 MW of mandated wind power by the end of 2002. Zond is the wind turbine manufacturing arm of Enron. Construction of the NSP Phase III Project -- 102 MW also being built by Enron using Zond turbines -- started in the summer, according to Enron. This project will also be near Lake Benton.
