Scottish poll reveals neighbours to wind farms like them
1 October 2003
The wind industry's claim that most people living near wind farms support wind power has been vindicated by a new Scottish Executive survey. The poll of residents living near wind farms in Scotland reveals that people living closest to the wind farms like them the most. MORI Scotland, which conducted the survey, finds that a majority of people are in favour of enlarging their neighbouring wind farm, with those living closest being the most supportive of expansion. Rob Forrest from the Scottish Renewables Forum says the survey shows that the Scottish public want wind. "The fact that the majority of those living near wind farms would support an extension shows that wind works and is already a good neighbour to communities in Scotland."
