According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), Spanish wind energy production is still very low, just 0.1% of the total electricity output in Spain, although it acknowledges that interest in wind power is steadily growing. In 1990, Spain boasted just 7.2 MW. By the end of 1994 it had ten times that amount and today, after the recent inauguration of Kenetech's 30 MW farm in Tarifa, around 100 MW. The IEA says that by the year 1997, Spain could easily treble that amount, reaching 330 MW.
