County Kerry first wind farm
1 September 2000
In Northern Ireland, County Kerry's first wind farm, a 3.96 MW facility of six Vestas turbines, began generating in July at Beenageeha near Tralee. The project was built by local company B9 Energy Services and Renewable Energy Systems (RES) from St Albans, England. It is the seventh that the B9/RES team have built in Northern Ireland and the Republic. Work has also begun on the team's eighth wind farm at Milane Hill near Dunmanway, Co Cork. The nine turbines (5.94 MW) were expected on-line by the end of August. B9 and RES have three further projects under development in Ireland.
