Public opinion tested in surveys continues to be overwhelmingly in favour of renewables, including wind. The litmus test will be the proportion of electricity consumers who actually sign up and stay with green pricing schemes. Individual projects, though, continue to attract individual protest, usually fuelled by virulent and misleading propaganda. The local effect can be serious, as the government's capping of wind contracts in Scotland has just shown. National politicians usually seem more wise to the antics of die-hard windmill haters.
