Wind consultancy and wind plant operator company, Tandem Stadland of Bremen, now has two wind projects operating after the inauguration in mid December of its Hobendiek wind station in Wesermarsch district. Hobendiek consists of eight, 450 kW AN Bonus machines. The other Tandem project is made up of two of the same turbines at Bremerhaven. Costly measures were demanded by the authorities to compensate for the impact on the local landscape of the Hobendiek plant. Twelve hectares of agricultural land had to be taken out of production and partially flooded to provide a more interesting habitat for meadowland birds. In addition trees were planted to create several hundred metres of tree-lined avenue. In 1995, the company expects to install six 600 kW machines in a new wind station -- not yet out to tender -- near Bremen, while several other projects are working their way through the licensing jungle. Tandem was also involved in the planning and management of a 3.9 MW wind station at Wremen, WN Windnutzungsgesellschaft, owned equally by Heinz Bollweg and Stadtwerke Bremen. This station consists of five Enercon E33, 330 kW machines and five Bonus 450 kW turbines.
