Thirty countries, their status and their potential, are touched upon in our annual review of the global wind power market. Installation of new wind power capacity is running at nearly 7 GW a year. As Merrill Lynch says, it can hardly be called a niche any longer. But several traditonal national markets have matured or will be reaching their peaks over the next two years. The onus is on new markets -- in Asia, Australia, South America and perhaps Canada -- to pick up the slack. And on the United States to sort out its regulatory hiatus to become the greatest market of them all.
