Textile industry wants easier access to wind technology fund

South India's Small Spinners Association (SSA) has asked the government to simplify eligibility rules for funding under the Technology Upgradation Fund (TUF). Textile mills are eligible for TUF money to help pay for the installation of wind and biogas power systems, but SSA says the rules currently exclude small mills as they cannot meet technology parameters laid down under the scheme. They want to see them changed so they too can reap the benefits of wind energy.
