Two turbines shipped to China by US firm Advanced Wind Turbines (AWT) are operating well, reports the company. From the start of May to the end of August they generated 328,000 kWh during 3576 operating hours, says AWT president Bob Poore. The AWT-27 machines were shipped in January for purchase by the North China Electric Research Institute, part of the North China Power Group utility The project, in an agricultural area near Zhangjiakou, also includes 11 Tacke 300 kW machines from Germany and two Sino-Dan turbines from Nordtank's Chinese venture.

Thirty of the AWT turbines have also been installed in India by Indian company Renewable Energy Systems (RES). The Ministry of Non Conventional Energy Sources has granted RES approval to install another 50.
