PowerGen's Bowbeat 31 MW project comes online

The latest UK wind farm to come online is Powergen Renewables' 31.2 MW Bowbeat Hill project. Twenty-four 1.3 MW Nordex turbines are sited near Peebles and provide enough power for half the homes in the Scottish Borders area. It is Powergen Renewables' biggest capacity wind farm to date. The company's Chris Morris says: "Bowbeat is our second wind farm in Scotland and we're hoping that there will be many more as we expand towards our goal of a tenfold increase in our renewable portfolio by 2010."
