Provinces look at offshore potential
1 April 2007
The governments of the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini together with the government for Emilia Romagna, the central Italian region in which the three provinces are located, have agreed to study the possibility of constructing wind capacity offshore. Currently, the region only has one utility scale wind plant on land, a 3.5 MW facility operated by utility Edison in San Benedetto Val Di Sembro in the province of Bologna, inaugurated in 1998. Ravenna province environmental assessor Andrea Mengozzi says the region's draft energy plan has a target for 20 MW of wind power by 2010.
